Integrated Classroom

3ALI is more than distance learning. As a part of Atlanta Adventist Academy, 3ALI is positioned to use the same instruction technology and method that Atlanta Adventist Academy (AAA) has pioneered. AAA’s solution to the long commutes in Atlanta is its ICN, or Integrated Classroom Network. An Integrated Classroom Network allows a school to have multiple connected satellite classrooms anywhere around the world that are integrated so well that they function as one smooth running classroom. This technology is what sets 3ALI apart from other distances learning centers.

Each partner classroom is configured with a large screen projector, highly sensitive microphones in the ceiling, and two flat screen televisions. There is one instructor that has a live classroom in front of them and multiple other satellite classrooms projected on both flat screens. The instructor can see and hear each parter classroom as if it were right in front of them. The students on the partner campuses see the teacher (or whatever view the teacher has chosen to project) on their screen and they can ask questions or interact with them or their fellow classmates on all campuses as the normally would. And since there is no lag time, the teacher can even create interactive games or discussions between classes easily and in an organized fashion. The instructor can utilize the cameras to project themselves, their classroom, their computer screen, or DVDs. To learn more what we do with the equipment visit our Technology page.

Tests, quizzes and homework are also part of the ICN. All of these can be administered and recieved through our online learning management system called D2L. The Desire2Learn portal allows the teacher to put assignments for the course on a downloadable portal that the students can access. Worksheets and other handouts can be uploaded onto D2L and then each student can view it or download onto their computer. Tests and quizzes can also be administered and even graded with D2L. This takes some of the grading burdens off of the instructor and allows for quicker feedback for the students. Homework and essays can be digitally submitted into a dropbox on D2L which holds them for the instructor and also allows for grading and feedback directly to the student. All of this cuts down on paper usage tremendously, making 3ALI an eco-friendly learning option, as well!
